DPS Lawsuit

The fight between the financial manager of Detroit Public Schools and the school board continues. Today, board members filed a lawsuit against Robert Bobb in district court. The board believes Bobb is abusing his authority as the districts financial manager by making academic decisions for DPS.

"We attempted to sit down and talk with Mr. Bobb and work out a protocol regarding his authority versus the boards authority and we had very different interpretations of the statue. He believed that he was in power to do all things for all people, we believe his empowered only over the finances of the district."

Robert Bobb
"I really haven't had time today to focus on the boards lawsuit and my day has been focused on our principals and making sure our buildings are ready for school. An there's a principal seminar today and also working on ways in which he can raise money for DPS."

We're told awyers for both sides are in negotiations.
