Robert Bobb Hops Aboard

9/22/2009

Some parents and students are being warned tonight not to be surprised at who may be standing at bus stops this week.

Robert Bobb visited several bus stops before dawn today along Fenkell
Street on Detroit's West Side. The Emergency Financial Manager of Detroit's Public Schools is on a mission to keep parents from sending their kids elsewhere for an education.

Robert Bobb
"My message to parents is we have great leadership in our school buildings, we have penomenal teachers in front of the children, we're expanding our programs, we're putting new rigor in the classrooms."

Bobb also tells us the district has lost track of 14,000 students. He's trying to get as many kids in Detroit Schools before the upcoming
"Kids Count." That determines how much state funds the district gets. Bobb will visit another neighborhood Thursday Morning.
