Granholm Addresses AWEA

Turns out the answer may be blowing in the wind. That's the belief tonight of Michigan's governor.

Jenifer Granholm addressed members of the American Wind Energy Association at Cobo Hall this morning. Most of the estimated 1,200 attendees are from out of state. They are discussing ways to help their industry grow. The Governor tells us that could be good news for workers.

GOVERNOR JENNIFER GRANHOLM\(D)-MICHIGAN
"A lot of them are interested in how suppliers to the auto industry can
produce those parts for wind turbines, and to allow our main backbone of manufacturing to actually get a piece of this work, developing wind turbines is very important for us."

Conference organizers believe the wind industry could generate roughly 1,200 new jobs. The conference wraps up Thursday.
