Riddle Jury Selection Begins

1/12/2010

The jury selection for political consultant’s Sam Riddle’s bribery case has begun. A Detroit federal court judge has given the green light for the process to begin.

Last week, Riddle tried to delay the selection after he argued the pool of possible jurors wasn’t ethnically diverse.

But the court denied the political consultant’s request to delay. Some criminal lawyer’s agree with the court.

"In the federal system, they pick jurors from a bigger pool not just from Detroit, where one racial make-up may be the majority. But this is a larger district where the make-up of the peers could be much different."

Riddle’s trial will start on January 25th.
