Historic Second Baptist Church was founded in 1836, one year before Michigan became a state. The church is an original site of an Underground Railroad Station used by enslaved Africans escaping to Canada. Since it’s inception, Second Baptist Church has played an integral role in the history of the City of Detroit.
The Friday Fellowship Luncheon is a collaborative effort between the Second Baptist Church and the Highland Park Career Academy. This outreach program will provide encouragement and real life training experiences for the students of the Culinary Arts Department. The program will also increase public awareness of the fine Culinary Program of the Career Academy.
The Highland Park Career Academy & Second Baptist Church of Detroit will hold a Grand Opening of the “Friday Fellowship Luncheon”. to restore this tradition and bring back delicious soul food meals each Friday. Patrons for Lunch may dine in or carry meals out. Calls for carry out meals will be accepted only on Friday between 9:30 AM and 1:00 PM.
