Event Description
Little did anyone know back in 2005 that a small motorcycle ride would grow to help so many children with autism and their families. It all started with a couple of guys from UAW Local 245 sitting around at break time wanting to do something to help fellow co-worker Kevin Chrenenko. Kevin has a son name Victor. Victor has autism. That is how this great non-profit organization “Ride For Autism” was born.
The 4th annual Ride for Autism takes place on August 2, 2008. The ride begins at the Southfield Civic Center with a pancake breakfast at 8 am. Rider’s take off at 11 am on a 60 mile route ending at Biker Bob’s of Taylor. The celebration continues at Biker Bob’s with food, raffle prizes and live entertainment.
Proceeds from Ride for Autism benefit local autism groups including; Judson Center’s Autism Connections, Macomb/St. Clair County, Livingston County and Southeast Wayne County Autism Chapters, SCAMP and Oakland University Autism Film Festival in assisting individuals affected by autism and their families by providing public awareness, education and resources related to autism spectrum disorders.
Ride for Autism is a 501(c)3 organization. For more information about participation and sponsorship opportunities contact Sal Ferra at (248)310-6651 or victor@rideforautism.com.
