#2: Memphis, Tennessee -- A pilgrimage to Memphis is a must for any die-hard music fan. On Beale Street, W.C. Handy was the first to write blues music on paper. Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash recorded at Sun Records (now a museum). Graceland, the second most-visited home in America, gives visitors a peek into the life of "The King." Beyond the music, visitors enjoy Southern hospitality, great food (don't leave without trying the barbecued ribs) and plenty of outdoor activities—Memphis has more sunny days each year than Miami.
