A-10's to Leave Selfridge in Downsizing
Pentagon Looks to Save $500-Billion
WASHINGTON (My TV20 News at 10) --- The Pentagon's cutback in the fleet of venerable A-10 "Warthog" aircraft will inflict damage at three air guard bases, including Michigan's 127th Wing at Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Harrison Township.
The cuts announced today will require Congressional approval, and already legislators representing the communities impacted are already vowing to put up a fight.
The other A-10 units are located at Fort Smith, Arkansas and Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The cuts are part of a plan announced today to downsize and restructure America's military. The Pentagon wants to save $500-billion over the next ten years.
