Austin, TX to Host X-Games

July 17, 2013

BRISTOL, CT (My TV20 News at 10) --- The Summer X-Games are not coming to Detroit.

ESPN announced Wednesday morning it’s reached a three-year deal to host the event in Austin, TX.

The contract is expected to generate at least $50 million a year to Austin’s economy.

Charlotte and Chicago also made the final list of cities along with Detroit.

Still Metro Detroit will host a major sporting event.

The 2013 AAU Junior Olympic Games starts July 24th in Detroit and at Eastern Michigan University.

The event will attract more than 18,000 athletes, and 28,000 visitors from around the country.
