DETROIT, MI (My TV20 News at 10) --- Authorities have charged a Detroit man with last week's murder of a taxi driver.
The Wayne County prosecutor claims 39-year-old William Heard shot Tyrone Hitchcock during the early morning hours of January 3.
It happened during a robbery.
Heard is also charged with wounding a female passenger in the cab.
Hitchcock became the third taxi cab driver killed in four months.
Another died in September and October.
Hitchcock's death, the second of the year, came hours before Mayor Dave Bing released Detroit's 2012 crime statistics.
They included the city's highest murder rate in nearly 20 years.
