DETROIT, Mi. (My TV20 News at 10) --- A mid-Michigan man is in big trouble after calling a bomb threat at the Lions football playoff game in New Orleans.
34-year-old Shawn Payton of Jackson (no relationship to the New Orleans Saints coach of the same name) called the Superdome in New Orleans while the Lions were playing and losing to the Saints.
Payton was in Detroit Federal Court today where he faces a misdemeanor charge.
Prosecutors say Payton asked to relay to the players and coaches on the sideline that there would be severe consequences if the Saints kept winning against his beloved Lions.
The FBI later traced the call back to Payton.
