DETROIT, MI (My TV20 News at 10) --- It’s been the home of General Motors since 1996.

GM considered moving to Warren in 2009 while it underwent bankruptcy proceedings.

Now, we’re learning GM came within one week of leaving downtown Detroit for the Warren Tech Center.

That’s the claim by former GM boss Edward Whitacre in his new book, "American Turnaround: Reinventing AT&T and GM and the Way We Do Business in the USA."

Whitacre claims he killed the plans after an aide mentioned it to him.

You can learn more about what went on inside the GM board room when the book hits store shelves, February 5th.
