DETROIT, Mi. (My TV20 News at 10) --- I-94 to be closed and detoured
in downtown Detroit this weekend
- Eastbound I-94 will be closed from US-12 (Michigan Avenue) to I-96, and will have one lane open from I-96 to M-10.
- Westbound I-94 will be briefly detoured at Van Dyke Avenue.
- Only one lane will be open on westbound I-94 from Van Dyke Avenue to southbound I-75, then traffic will be detoured on southbound I-75 and westbound I-96 back to westbound I-94.
- Work is expected to begin 9 p.m. Friday and end by 5 a.m. Monday.
"October 31, 2013 -- The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be closing a portion of I-94 in Detroit this weekend beginning at 9 p.m. Friday due to multiple construction projects, including bridge work on Van Dyke Avenue and Trumbull Street.
Eastbound I-94 traffic will be detoured onto US-12 (Michigan Avenue) in Dearborn. The posted detour will follow Michigan Avenue east to I-96. Motorists also can take an alternate route that includes northbound M-39 and eastbound I-96 to eastbound I-94. Eastbound I-94 will have only one lane open from I-96 to M-10.
Westbound I-94 traffic will be briefly detoured at Van Dyke Avenue, using the on and off ramps. Once back on westbound I-94, only one lane will be open from Van Dyke Avenue to southbound I-75. Then westbound I-94 will be closed and motorists will be detoured via southbound I-75 and westbound I-96 back to westbound I-94.
These lane restrictions are expected to end at 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4."
