DETROIT, MI (My TV20 News at 10) --- Someone is claiming to be responsible for that offensive sign recently posted at Detroit's old Packard Plant.
The infamous German phrase appeared at the plant last month.
The phrase means "Work Makes You Free."
Those words appeared at the entrance to several concentration camps during World War 2.
Someone named "Penny Gaff" is taking responsibility for posting the sign at the plant.
She makes the claim on the Facebook page of a photographer in Berkley.
We have not been able to talk to him.
Gaff claims she posted the phrase to protest the corporate society in America.
Gaff also compares the destruction of her sign to the destruction and theft of the original one from the Auschwitz in 2009.
It's doubtful that's the person's real name.
A "penny gaff" was a popular entertainment for the lower classes in 19th-century England.
