NORFOLK, Va. (My TV20 News at 10) --- Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney has picked Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan to be his running mate.
The 42-year-old Ryan is head of the House Budget Committee, and considered a budget genius by his colleagues. He's a Tea Party favorite because of his leadership on budget issues.
Romney announced his choice of Ryan at the retired battleship USS Wisconsin in Norfolk.
Romney starts a bus tour on Saturday through four politically divided states that he needs to win in November: Virginia, North Carolina, Florida and Ohio.
The choice of Ryan will bring the debate over how to reduce government spending and debt to the forefront of the race for the White House.
