UNDATED (My TV 20 News at Ten) - If you’re hoping to turn that nervous first date into a more confident second and third you may want to take a few notes about first date taboos from dating website WhatAboutWe.com.
The dating website conducted a survey on dating turnoffs and came up with a top 10 list after surveying more than 100,000 singles.
Biggest First Date No-No’s:
Remove phone from vicinity. The No. 1 most offensive thing on a first date, survey respondents said, was seeing a date on a cellphone or texting.
First date sex? Forget about it. Women were more likely to say that attempting to have sex on the first date is an unforgivable faux pas. (Hmm, apparently, the men didn't feel as strongly? Go figure.)
Nobody cares about your ex. An equal number of men and women reported hating ex-talk.
Late grates. More than 15 minutes was unacceptable, the respondents said.
Show the waitstaff some love. Being rude or mistreating a server is a major red flag.
Sobriety is a plus! One out of 10 singles said drinking too much on a first date was a misstep.
Fellas, pick up the tab. Like it or not, splitting a bill or letting the woman pay wasn't kindly received; having the guy pick up the tab was more acceptable than splitting it.
Glad you have a job, but ... Save shop talk for your boss.
Yes, your mother loves you. Keep it to yourself and leave her out of the conversation on the first date.
Talk about marriage - with anybody but your first date. Men reported being twice as turned off as women by wedding talk.
