DETROIT, Mich. (My TV20 News at 10) --- Detroit Police have sent out a warning to users of a website for escort services after four women were found murdered in trunks of cars.
In the past week, four women have been found murdered in the trunks of cars. 24-year-old Demensha Hunt and 23-year-old Renisha Landers were the first victims found on December 19th in between two houses on the 14900 block of Promenade on the city's east side.
Then on Christmas morning, two more victims - yet to be identified - but both in the 20's, were found in the trunk of a burning car inside a garage on Lannette Street, just blocks away from where Hunt and Landers were found.
Detroit Police say that three of three of the four victims were linked to backpage.com, a website that offers everything from furniture and pets for sale…and even sex. The three had profiles offering sex services.
Now police are warning that those who use social media for sexual encounters risk deadly consequences.
Police are waiting for toxicology reports to clarify how the women died. So far, they've stopped short of calling this the work of a serial killer.
