Non-profit working to feed hundreds of homeless and high-risk youth this Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Nearly 2000 teens in the city of Detroit live with HIV, many of these teens have no place to call home. This reality is harsh year round but can be magnified during the holiday seasons. The Red Tie for Youth Foundation gears its services of HIV prevention and care towards creating emotionally strong youth, which allows them to become leaders in their own communities. In an effort to nurture and encourage these youths, Red Tie has teamed up with Kaleidoscope Catering to launch a holiday meal program called “Food for Love”.
Kaleidoscope Catering will prepare a gourmet Thanksgiving and Christmas meal November 25 and December 25 from 12pm until 5pm, with a goal to feed up to 600 homeless and high-risk youth. Meal locations will be at teen run-away and safe haven locations Mpowerment Detroit in Detroit. This service is free. We ask participants be 13-24yrs old.
This effort is being made possible largely by Kaleidoscope’s generosity, but we still need help to ensure every child that needs this service may receive it. We will be accepting donations of non-perishable food from October 1st until November 22nd at each meal location.
If your viewers, readers or listeners want more info on how to donate or participate, please direct them to www.OneTie.org/food.
“Kaleidoscope Catering is proud to partner with the Red Tie for Youth Foundation and show their commitment to youth health with providing the labor and menu for the “Food for Love” program.” – Brandon Hutcherson; Kaleidoscope Catering CEO
