Read 2 Books Weekly

To promote literacy, The Author Collective (TAC) is proudly giving more than 1,000 young readers a brand new book.

Encouraging young people to read at least two books per week, we are launching project “R2B,” READ 2 BOOKS. Between now and October 21st 2010, “Project R2B” will select at least fifty area schools, churches or youth organizations and donate 20 “TAC Book Certificates” to each. The “TAC Book Certificate” can be redeemed for one new book from more than one hundred fifty pre-screened titles appropriate for kindergarten through twelfth grade students. The receiving organization’s administration will be given the certificates and asked to identify and distribute them to students whom they feel will most benefit from a new book.

Organizations wanting to be considered for receiving “TAC Book Certificates” should email Nicole@44th.net before October 15th. The email should include the organization’s name, contact information and a brief description of how your initiatives help young people. All requests will be reviewed and those accepted will be notified promptly. TAC Book Certificates will be given away based upon availability.

Additionally we are commencing a nationwide campaign asking all authors to donate two or more books to our cause. We hope to raise and distribute 10,000 books to area students by Christmas 2010. Books must be brand new and may be novels or educational, any genre appropriate for pre K-12 students. Authors donating books will be given recognition and mentioned on the Author Collective website. Books donated before October 25th 2010 will be available for students at the Michigan International Books festival or the International Urban Book Festival, Detroit.

The Michigan International Books Festival will take place October 29th through 31st at the Laurel Park Place Mall in Livonia, MI. The International Urban Book Festival, Detroit happens at the Northland Mall in Southfield, MI. November 5th through 7th.
