“What Label Are You?”
The Community Theatre of Howell’s cast of 13: the Musical will be performing songs and leading a Teen discussion on dealing with Labels and Cliques at the Highland Library.
May 21st from 2:00-3:00pm.
Much of what we hear in the dialogue of 13 the Musical tells us the lead character, Evan, is dealing with a very well established clique which he must break into if he is to be popular in Appleton, Indiana. At least that’s the way he sees it. Most of us have experienced the power of cliques and labels at some time in our lives, and it can be challenging!
All teens and families are invited to discuss the following issues with the cast of ’13’:
What cliques and labels do you have at your school? How hard is it to belong to one or multiple cliques? What are negative or positive things about cliques and labels? How do you deal with being labeled? Can you change your clique and label?
13: the Musical Synopsis- A grown-up story about growing up.
When his parents get divorced and he's forced to move from New York to a small town in Indiana, Evan Goldman just wants to make friends and survive the school year while planning his bar mitzvah. Easier said than done! The star quarterback is threatening to ruin his life and his only friend, Patrice, won't talk to him. The school freak sees an opportunity for blackmail, and someone is spreading the nastiest rumors around his school.
