Detroit Pockets of Cool

Check out Detroit Pockets of Cool!

Birmingham, Mich. – Pockets of Cool is establishing a significant presence for Detroit online using engaging videos that connect the city's distinctive culture and lifestyle to a global community. The campaign directs a national audience to the Detroit Pockets of Cool website, which serves as an insider’s roadmap of a great city. The website demonstrates what makes the city cool and the assets it has as a world-class community. POC’s ultimate mission is to tell the real story of Detroit for those who don't know about the treasures it possesses.
The Pockets of Cool campaign tells the story of the prosperity and resources the city has been endowed with over the years. There is an enormous amount of talent, diversity, and innovation housed in Detroit that many people don’t get to experience or don’t know about simply because of the way Detroit is perceived. That is why this website is so unique because it really strives to get people aware, involved, and educated on what Detroit is really about and how it has grown into a city with great energy.

Pockets of Cool features personal video interviews of the known and unknown who are passionate about the creative environment Detroit has to offer. These videos present the city’s world-class cultural institutions, the foundation of art and creativity, leadership in research, and the city’s success to advance education in the schools and universities. You hear the authentic voice of Detroit and what Detroit is really about. Whether known or unknown, all of these interviews are from people who are playing a role in changing the perception of Detroit.
POC focuses its energy on creating a website that appeals to young and successful innovative thinkers. The state of the art website is set to launch in a month. The website is being developed through the participation of those who want to be a part of the Pockets of Cool network. It is being built for the city by the city; what makes Detroit cool, makes Pockets of Cool what it is. Currently on the website are video stories of Vince Paul, Ralphe Armstrong, Kerry Doman, Meg Paul, Judge Damon J. Keith, and Eric Moss; just a few of the many people playing a role in changing Detroit. Upcoming video stories to watch for will feature Tyree Guyton, Laurie Eisenhower, Mark Arminski, Mayor Dave Bing, and Faye Nelson.
POC proposes to unveil this unique perspective of Detroit by looking at what we have instead of what we don’t have. Detroit’s natural resources; talent base, cultivation of innovation, technology, medical research, inventive engineers, and the city’s art scene is what defines Detroit’s real character. This is the urban cool we see. This is the New Detroit.
