CONCORD, MI – Registration for the Falling Waters Trail Wild Life Marathon is now open to the public. Runners and walkers of all ages and skill levels are invited to take part in this year’s 4th annual event on Sunday, October 14, 2012. This popular and fast-growing race is now officially part of the 2012 Jackson Citizen Patriot Running/Walking Series.
This event has something for everyone. Runners and walkers will enjoy the village streets of Concord and the natural beauty of the Falling Waters Trail. In addition to the marathon, the event includes a half-marathon run/walk, a 5K run/walk, and a non-competitive Kids’ Wild Dash event. All running routes are certified by the USATF, so finishing times can be used to qualify for the Boston Marathon.
The purpose of this annual event is to raise funds to help maintain the Falling Waters Trail and to support local community and county park improvements to the trail. Community awareness is also important as work is being done to develop programs to educate the community and trail users about safety on the trail.
Awards are given to overall event winners - first 3 in each age group for the marathon, half-marathon run/walk, and 5K run/walk, including Masters in all events. All participants in the Kids’ Wild Dash will receive an award. In addition, a cash prize of $100 will be awarded to any athlete breaking a standing course record in any of the three running events.
Registration is now open, and discounts are given for early registration in all events. Shirts are guaranteed for those who pre-register by Sept. 15, 2012.
