hug detroit parade/atwater &Dequindre Cut 11:00A
Formerly a Grand Trunk Railroad line, the Dequindre Cut is a 1.35-mile greenway that was developed to accommodate pedestrian and bicycle traffic. Opened in 2009, the Dequindre Cut offers a connecting path through the Riverfront, Eastern Market and residences nearby. The path runs from the Detroit Riverwalk and parallel to St. Aubin Street. The below-street-level path is surrounded by remnants of Detroit graffiti culture, with street art lining many of the walls along the greenway.
We are declaring August 25th as "Hug Detroit"... With Just A Little Love" Day and our goal is to make August 25, 2013 a record breaking lowest crime rate day because of all the HUGS & LOVE exemplified that day. Proceeds will be used for scholarships and the support of arts education in the community.
What's most exciting, is that we recognize there are many gifts, talents, passions, and companies/entrepreneurs residing within Detroit.
