Sam was a baby when this picture was taken. He was hands down the sweetest, most loving pet I've ever had. Every day when I came home from school he would come charging out of whatever room he had been hiding in and run out to greet me, sometimes getting so overexcited he would accidentally run into offending objects like chairs or walls! Thankfully he never hit them very hard, though he was so energetic that I kept taking him for check-ups at the vet to make sure he was okay.
I had Sam for three years until my parents and I lost our house during my senior year of high school. On the day of the foreclosure, when everything we owned was being thrown out onto the lawn and carried away into dumpsters, he was taken away from us and I was heartbroken. The past few years had been very difficult, not only financially but emotionally as my parents were struggling with depression and alcoholism, and Sam had been my best and at times my only friend. I'm a sophomore in college now, and I still think about him all the time and I miss him terribly. I like to think that he was quickly adopted by someone who loved him as much as I did.
