Entrepreneurship = Empowerment = Social Change. The Business Side of Youth [The B. Side] provides the Entrepreneurial skills necessary to Empower youth to create Social Change in their community and in their own lives.
Join us Friday, April 9 from 8:30 a.m. -5:30 p.m. in EMU’s College of Business - 300 W. Michigan Avenue for a one-day Arts and Entrepreneurship Explosion where we springboard the entrepreneurial energies of 60 area at-risk youth through a day of hands-on workshops in:
- Digital Animation in collaboration with EMU’s College of Technology
- Screen Printing in collaboration with Sarms
- Video Production led by Marty Stano
- Music Production in collaboration with Community Records
This university-community collaboration event sets the stage for the spring launch of B.Side Basics, the core entrepreneurial class; open to any youth in the community ages 13-20.
The Business Side of Youth was founded in 2007 to foster a culture of youth entrepreneurship in Ypsilanti and Washtenaw County with a focus on developing youth owned businesses. Youth involved in the B.Side, complete a business plan, are provided a community mentor, and can apply for generator funds to develop product prototypes, and micro-loans to develop their businesses.
