Hello, my name is Lucy Lorf, I am the Volunteer Chairperson for the American Cancer Society's, Cancer Prevention Study-3 enrollment in the Port Huron area.
At the 2010 Relay For Life of Greater Port Huron, residents of our community will have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to enroll in the American Cancer Society’s third Cancer Prevention Study which seeks to help us better understand the factors that cause or prevent cancer. Relay for Life of Greater Port Huron is one of only 130 sites nationwide that will be enrolling participants in 2010.
Individuals between the ages of 30 and 65 who have never been diagnosed with cancer and who are willing to make a long-term commitment to the study will be able to enroll at the Relay For Life of Greater Port Huron on May 22, 2010 at the Birchwood Mall, Younker's parking lot, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Please share this information with your employees, coworkers, friends and family.
It is more important to have this in the media prior to the event so that residents who would like to participate are aware of the opportunity.
As a 10 year colon cancer survivor, cancer has become an all too familiar word in our family. In 2003 my mother lost her 19 year fight with colon cancer. In 2003 my 23 year old daughter was diagnosed with brain cancer and in the fall of 2006 she passed away. These were two of the most important people too me. But my family has had many others, grandparents, cousins, mother-in-law, father-in-law and many friends. That is why I am working so hard to inform the residents of our area of the Cancer Prevention Study.
If you do not live in or near Port Huron, which is in St. Clair County, visit cancer.org/cps3 and look for an enrollment site near you.
