SING JUBLIEE!The Story of the Fisk Jubliee Singers
Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit proudly presents the world premiere of SING JUBLIEE! The Story of the Fisk Jubilee Singers by OyamO. One of the most inspiring stories in African American music, the Fisk Jubilee Singers performed with dignity and grace for mixed audiences, political leaders and royalty at a time when newly freed slaves were still fighting for education, racial equality and basic rights.
They sang the “secret songs,” or spirituals, handed down from generation to generation, their voices keeping alive a history of strength, hope and triumph that is still treasured today.
