World Series of Bowling6/16/2009The spotlight still shines on Allen Park tonight. Groundbreaking is expected to take place this month on the city's new movie studio. And Allen Park will also take centerstage soon on ESPN. My TV 20's Dave Leval shows us why. Jason Belmonte continues working on his form. The Australian native hopes to bowl you over when he returns to the Motor City in August. He's among those who will gather for the inaugural World Series of Bowling. Belmonte joins tournament organizers at Allen Park's "Thunderbowl" Lanes to announce the event. Tom Clark, C.O.O., Professional Bowlers Association Tom Strobl/Owner, "Thunderbowl" The competition begins August 2-6 with the Motor City Open at Taylor Lanes in Taylor. The action then moves to "Thunderbowl" for the World Series of Bowling that runs thru September 6th. Belmonte is among the hundreds of bowlers from around the world who will compete. It marks the first time professional bowlers will spend an extended period of time in one city. Belmonte tells us the new format makes it easier to compete.
