Cheaper Air Fares7/2/2009There will soon be a cheaper, and we mean cheaper, way to fly to the Big Apple. The only catch is you may have to *drive* a bit further to get ntjhe deal. My TV 20's Dave Leval shows us what the savings mean for you and one airport. It's a quiet morning at Toledo Express Airport. Roughly 200,000 people fly in and out of here a year. That's about one-third the number from before the September 11th Terrorist Attacks. Michael Stolarczyk/CEO, Toledo-Lucas Co. Port Authority Airport operators believe they are losing a million passengers a year, and it's not just a case of people not flying. Instead, they're hopping in their cars, heading north, and catching their flights at Detroit Metro Airport. Toledo operators are now trying to get back their passengers. They point out there are advantages to using their airport. Stolarczyk Plus, shorter and faster lines at the ticket counter, and security checkpoints. Southwest is just one of several discount carriers that serves Detroit. There's one the Motor City doesn't have that will soon call Toledo home. Jet America begins service July 13. It will offer non-stop service to Central Florida, Minneapolis, and Newark, New Jersey. Basically $25 will get you a roundtrip ticket to New York City.
