Detroit commuters can breathe a little easier tonight. That's tonight's big story at 10. Tonight, I-75 in Southwest Detroit is open for business again. But drivers aren't the only ones excited about the re-opening of the highway. My TV20's Jorge avellan tells us who else is glad to see it open.

"Oh, we're estatic and happy and excited and everything else that with it."

Most business owners in Southwest Detroit feel like Diana Cooley from Evies Tamales. The re-opening of I-75 in that area is expected to increase business sales.

"Monetarily it will make a lot of difference. We've been so far down, now with the freeway opening hopefully we will get more customers and bring the ones back that we loss because of the constructions."

For the past 17 months, when I-75 construction was taking place, businesses in Southwest noticed a major drop in sales.

"There has certainly been business loss in Southwest Detroit as a result of the difficulty of getting up to West Vernor and Bagley. Some of our business have seen as much as 15%-25% loss in their annual income."

Carlos Gonzalez from La Gloria Bakery believes the re-opening of the highway will make a difference.

"I think it's good for business because the cars pass by and they usually stop to see the business."

The re-opening of I-75 motivated some people to eat in Southwest Detroit today.

"The detour and everything was an inconvinience with that being closed and everything. And now that it's open people can get here a lot easier."

The re-opening of the I-75 section came 5 months earlier than anticipated.
