Granholm Defends School Veto

By Dave Leval

DETROIT (MyTV 20) - A war of words continues between the leader of the Michigan Senate, and Governor Jennifer Granholm, after the governor vetoed nearly $52 million of the public school budget. She claims Senate leaders broke their word to fill a gap in state spending.
The veto cuts money from 39 of Michigan's highest-spending and largest school districts. Granholm says she had no choice by to issue the veto, and denies claims she vetoed the measure to force Republicans to raise taxes.
