By Dave Leval

DETROIT (MyTV 20) - Fans are mourning the loss of a TV legend, who rose to fame in Detroit. Soupy Sales died Thursday night in a New York City hospice.
The Motor City was home to "The Soupy Sales Show" starting in 1953. It featured puppet pals White Fang, Black Tooth and Pookie. The program moved to Los Angeles in 1960.
Sales was famous for throwing - and taking - a pie in the face. He claimed to have been hit with a pie more than 20,000 times.
Soupy Sales was 83 years old.
