A third investigative hearing was held today to help determine why Detroit Public Schools has overspent millions of dollars during the last years.

Milo Maddox from Barton Malow construction, who served as project manager in several of DPS’s construction projects was questioned about monthly reimbursement payments of 250 thousand dollars he and other builders received in addition to their contract fee.

Maddox told district officials the money was mostly spent on office materials.

"We went through a lot of paper. There was also consultants I believe that came out of that. There was a lot of consultants that were hired to do different things."

DPS does plan to have more hearings but no dates have been released.
