Silverdome's New Owner11/17/2009
The Pontiac Silverdome has a new owner tonight. The stadium has pretty much sat empty since the Detroit Lions moved to Ford Field in 2002. An unnamed Cananadian company bought the buildings for $583,000. Pontiac leaders tell us the new owners hope to keep it as a sports venue. They are planning to put a Major League Soccer team there next season once the stadium has been renovated. The new owners were among the four bidders during today's auction. The Silverdome had cost the city $1.5-million-a-year to maintain it.
