DETROIT (MyTV 20) - Teacher contracts at Detroit Public Schools will expire tomorrow. Negotiation talks started today and are expected to continue through the weekend.
In a phone interview, Keith Johnson, president of Detroit's Federation of Teachers told My TV 20 teachers are still trying to avoid a ten percent pay cut suggested by the district and are asking for basic school needs. But Johnson says teachers will not go on strike next week, like they have in the past, if no contract agreement is reached this weekend.
