Governor Granholm is promising to fight tonight to help students get a
college education. The Governor spoke to students this morning at Eastern Michigan University. It was the latest stop on her statewide tour to gather support for the "Michigan Promise Scholarship Program." Senate Republicans cut funding for it as part of the latest budget. Students tell us they may have to drop out of college without the
scholarship.

"I come from a low-income household. I'm paying for room and board,
tuition, books, everything on my own. The loss of "Promise," it translates to an extra $4,000 I'll have to pay when I graduate."

Governor Granholm admits a deal can still be reached to restore funding when Senators return to work next week.
