DETROIT, Mi. (My TV 20 News at Ten) --- The Broadway Show "Memphis" is now playing at the Fisher Theatre in Detroit. With it, it brings a message of race and cultural acceptance. The musical follows the story of a white radio DJ that caused controversy when he started playing "race music" over the air during the 1950's.
While for the younger generation, situations such as those seen in "Memphis" may be something of the past, some local residents that lived through it have not forgotten.
Our Jorge Avellan spoke with an African-American record store owner about her experiences during the 1950's and has her story.
