Detroit, MI (My TV20 News at 10) – Robert Bashara was sentenced to 6 ½ to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty in October for attempting to hire a hitman to kill Joe Gentz, the alleged murderer of Bashara’s wife Jane. Bashara tearfully asked the judge for mercy on his sentence as well as his attorney, claiming he was a pillar of his Grosse Pointe Woods community and was truly sorry for what he did. However a statement from Bashara’s intended victim may have swayed the judge toward a longer sentence.
