DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mi. (My TV20 News at 10) --- Criminal charges have been filed against a Dearborn Heights homeowner in the shooting death of a young woman.
Renisha McBride was shot and killed November 2nd by 54-year-old Theodore Wafer, who had called 9-1-1 after the shooting saying someone was trying to break into his home.
But an investigation led to charges against Wafer, including murder in the second degree, manslaughter and possession of a firearm during a felony.
McBride had knocked on Wafer's home during the night after her car broke down on.
Michigan Law allows homeowners to protect themselves if they are in danger. But the charges filed against Wafer today by authorities suggest they feel he was not in danger, and not justified in the shooting.
