DETROIT, MI (My TV20 News at 10) --- Something new is rolling off the line at GM's Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant.
Production is officially underway on the new Chevrolet Impala.
General Motors is hoping the model will show buyers Chevrolet does more than build quality pick up trucks and SUV's.
The Impala is just the latest product produced at the plant.
There will soon be another.
The plant is home to the Chevrolet "Volt" electric car.
Work begins later this year on an electric version of a Cadillac.
Toss in the Chevrolet Malibu, and now the Impala, it's a busy time for workers.
GM added 500 workers to the plant last year.
More could be added depending on demand.
