DETROIT, MI (My TV20 News at 10) --- April DeBoer and Jayne Rowse believe they are closer to being allowed to marry in Michigan.
The gay couple from Hazel Park met with reporters at the Damon J. Keith Center for Civil Rights Wednesday.
The two shared their thoughts following Wednesday's U.S. Supreme Court ruling that struck down part of a federal law denying federal benefits to married gay couples.
The women have a federal suit against Michigan, trying to end the state's ban on gay marriage.
It's preventing them from adopting each other's children.
State law could send the children into foster care if the legal parent dies.
