DETROIT, Mi. (TV 20 News at Ten) --- The Hugs not Bullets campaign is celebrating it's 10th year in operation. With the help of the Neighborhood Service Organization teens from the Youth Initiative Project are asking the public to celebrate New Years with hugs and not bullets.

Many people in Detroit say they have to bring in the new year on the floor because some people shoot their guns as a way of celebration.

The Detroit police chief told our Jorge Avellan that more officers will be on patrol for the holiday.
