TROY, Mi. (My TV20 News at 10) --- Father Thomas Belczak of St. Thomas Parish More Parish has been moved aside by the Diocese as they investigate financial irregularities and the hiring of a 'ghost employee.'
A state by the Diocese says the 67-year-old Belczak was been temporarily "excluded from the office of pastor".
According to the Diocese, the irregulaties include:
- taking excess compensation
- accepting and directing funds to himself that should have gone to the parish
- paying and providing benefits for a 'ghost employee' closting the parish some $240,000 over six years
Monsignor John Zenz, episcopal vicar of the Northwest Region and pastor of Holy Name Parish has been named by the Diocese as temporary administrator of St. Thomas More Parish.
