LIVONIA, Mi. (My TV20 News at 10) --- It's prom season for high schoolers and if things are getting a little too expensive, a store in Livonia wants to help.

Style Trader is having a contest for one girl to win a prom package. TV20's Kristin Pierce says the upscale shop is offering a prom package for one lucky girl. She’ll pick out a prom dress, shoes and accessories from Style Trader. She’ll also get her hair and makeup done for free as well as flowers for her big day.

“Prom can be such an expensive outing for families. This is a way to build someone up and make them feel special as they are,” said Jennifer Fields, general manager of Style Trader.

Nominees must be at least 16 years old and attend one of the seven participating schools:

Stevenson, Franklin or Churchill high schools in Livonia
Garden City High School
Redford Union or Thurston high schools in Redford
John Glenn High School in Westland

All nominations must come from a third party and need to be submitted by March 14th.

Entry forms are available at the store in the 11000 block of Middlebelt or online at:

Finalists will be chosen based on their entry forms and the winner be announced at a prom showcase next month.

“There are so many teens who do things for the community and don’t get a lot of recognition,” said Fields. “It’s one of those things where you want to give to your child but sometimes you’re not able to.”
