DEARBORN, MI (My TV20 News at 10) --- Folks at the Big Blue Oval have reason to smile.
Ford Motor Company announced Wednesday morning its profits rose to $1.6 billion during the first quarter of the year.
The highest profit in North America in at least 13 years led the way.
The Dearborn automaker's profits rose for the 15th consecutive quarter, up 15.4 percent compared to a year ago.
Ford made all but $6 million in North America, which posted its best quarterly pre-tax profit since at least 2000.
That's when the company first reported North America as its own business unit.
Ford said Wednesday it expects to increase production during the second quarter in North America, from 784,000 to 800,000 units, and in Asia, from 286,000 to 315,000 units.
