LANSING (My TV 20 News at 10) - Governor Rick Snyder vetoed the recently-passed bill that would have allowed concealed pistol license holders to carry weapons into schools and other places where they were previously banned.
In a written statement from his office announcing the veto, Snyder is quoted as saying, “While we must vigilantly protect the rights of law-abiding firearm owners, we also must ensure the right of designated public entities to exercise their best discretion in matters of safety and security. These public venues need clear legal authority to ban firearms on their premises if they see fit to do so.”
