BIRMINGHAM, MI (My TV20 News at 10) --- The Titanic sails into St. Clair next month.
Fine Art Models has built an 18-foot long, 1,500 lb replica of the ship that sank during its maiden voyage in 1912.
It's so finely detailed, the model features teak deck chairs, telegraph machine, eight miles of fiber optic lighting, and 3,376,000 rivets.
The model is the highlight of “Titanic: The Building of an Icon” that will be on display at Fred Moore’s Boathouse, at 940 South Riverside Drive in St. Clair, on Saturdays from June 22 through July 27.
Fine Art received the blessings of Harland and Wolff, the Irish shipyard where Titanic was built.
Net proceeds from the exhibit go to the Citizens for St. Clair Fund of the Community Foundations of St. Clair County.
