It is an unfinished construction project that became a symbol of the recession.

Bloomfield Park was supposed to be a multi-million dollar retail and housing development on Telegraph Road, but then construction stopped in 2008. Since then eighteen partially built building have become an eyesore.

Now Crain’s Business Detroit reports that Redico LLC is planning to begin demolition work in February or March of 2017. It then plans to build a development.

According to documents filed with Bloomfield Township the new project is being renamed. It will be called the Village at Bloomfield.  It would feature apartments, retail space, and office buildings.  The home improvement store Menard’s has tentative plans to open up there. There are also plans to open a movie theater, grocery store, and clothing stores.

Stores could open as soon as 2018.
