Hoping to Attract More Riders

April 24, 2012

DETROIT, Mi. (My TV20 News at 10) --- Amtrak wants you to ride the rails by showing you how comfortable an AMTRAK ride can be.

AMGTRAK is showing off what its new bi-level rails cars will look like.
The U-S Transportation Department has opened bidding on a $551 million project to build 130 of the new cars. 25 of them will roll through Michigan, starting in 2015.

Each will hold more than just extra passengers. They will be lower for easier boarding, will accommodate bicycles and offer Wi-Fi.

Amtrak's considering installing Wi-Fi and bicycle storage on existing cars until the new ones are built.
