More than 20,000 home theater speaker systems are being recalled because they can potentially ignite.
The Dual-Voltage CineMate II Home Theater Speaker Systems made by Bose are affected by the recall after the company received reports of the bass modules igniting when used in 220-volt electrical outlets in Europe. No injuries were reported.
The models were sold at U.S. Military Exchanges and select U.S. retailers from September 2009 through September 2012 for between $600 and $800.
Consumers should immediately stop using and unplug any dual-voltage CineMate II systems and contact Bose to arrange for a free repair or replacement of the bass module.
You can contact the Bose Corporation; toll-free (877) 354-1004 in the U.S. or 001 (508) 614-1842 outside the U.S., or www.bose.com/safety for more information.
